Wetlands for food production – what can they offer, what is the price?

Most modern approaches to natural resources commit to all goals at the same time – agricultural productivity, food and livelihood security, and biodiversity conservation. Examples for such commitments include the FAO Sustainable Land Management principles, the strategies of the African Development Bank and regional Commissions, and not last the SDG themselves.

But does ‘sustainable agriculture’ ever work in practice? Or do we want to have the cake and eat it, too?
